Last week has proven to be a week of intense trainings. During daytime we had trainings for products, early night training of beer and Germany foods, late night training of fighting jet-lag. Five days are five repeating cycles. All those long-due training slapped my sleepy face, one after another, on and on. Fortunately, we’ve got decent coffee at every floor of our Muenster office, otherwise I really don’t think I could survive.
Anyway, the training was fantastic. Though still have some points are missing, I really did not expect everything to be covered within just one week. Unlike the 6-week stay in last year, this time we really stuck to the schedule. We’ve gone through hardware, software, system, production, promotions, seminars, blah blah, literally everything! German colleagues are as friendly as usual, if not even better (considering all the cheerful dinner sessions, really can’t ask more from them). Glad to see more new hires as well.
Exhausted I was at every 5:30 pm, still had to pull myself together for dinners with colleagues. I was amazed to know that during my last year’s stay I missed so many decent restaurants in Muenster! On monday we went to a super old building (at least it looks super old), which dates back to 17xx. When I walked in I couldn’t help but “woaaaaaaahhhh”. It reminds me exactly the inns from the “Lord of the Ring”, old and black and dented wood furniture, dim lights, and fire pit! I couldn’t stop imagining that suddenly some dwarves pop in with axes on their shoulders and start ordering ales. Foods there is the best western food I ever had (sorry for my afterwards dinner hosts :P). Tuesday we went to the center of the muenster, a place called Stuhlmacher, which can be easily found in the gothic church picture, those umbrellas on the right. I ordered a beef stew and had long hours of culture talks with my friends. Wednesday “Am Aasee”, a restaurant with the name “at the lake of the river Aa”. This is the lake where the famous story of a real black swan falling in love with a giant white-swan-boat took place a few years back. Now the swan boat is still floating there, but the black swan, female form of “Peter”, has a new lover already, a real swan this time. we had some special pizza from southern part of France, really exotic pizzas with cream on top, yummy! On thursday, PINKUS! How can we not drink Pinkus when in Muenster! the beer is still tasty and I had some German sausages there. Because I was really pushing my eating limit so Friday I decided to stay in the hotel and only had some fruits instead. Prepare for Saturday.
Practically speaking Saturday is the only day I had some free hours. By the time I checked-out my room the morning market outside the dome was still open. I walked until I spotted a long queue in front of some sort of waffle shop. Long queue so no chance I skip it! My Muenster visit ended at “Milano” cafe. The coffee there is so good that I kept ordering it…
Life is so good there. But I am back in Singapore.
