My 2nd resignation, on 10 July 2009, as Product Specialist (Electron Microscopy) from Olympus Soft Imaging Solutions GmbH.
During the past 2 years working as the sole EM Imaging Specialist in China, I spent half of my time in China (stationing in Beijing or travelling around). The apartment in Beijing, somewhere between the 3rd and 4th ring, has become my second home. Initially, it was very challenging to cope with the new life in a new city, both physically and mentally. But it got better eventually. A little bit sad to say goodbye, after all this is place I spent 2 years of my life.
Back in the Singapore office, some simple pass-downs and I am ready for the last day: farewell emails, call to big boss, farewell lunch, exit interview with EMIC manager, all this kind of routine stuff. It was quite fun, especially true when people are so generous in giving good feedback to my work. I remember I told one of my Germen colleagues that “I did enjoy working with them though there were few inconveniences from culture differences but in general it has been pleasant.” This is more due to the fact that majority of them are scientists (this is a praise) rather than businessmen that you see a lot in China (and I mean BAD), and I prefer scientists.
and… before I throw away all the boarding passes I started to collect less than a year ago (and thus only a small portion of what they actually are), here you go.
